MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9)—When Hawkeye ran off while being transferred to his new owner in Texas, people from all over the country wanted to help find this dog. Jamie Murphy represents a nationwide interest in finding the Australian Shepherd, Hawkeye. On Barrelhorseworld .com a Texas woman posted pictures of Hawkeye, who she had just purchased from a seller in Brainerd, Minnesota. As common practice on the site, she asked if anyone was coming her way.
Katie Stewart of
Afton was heading to a horse show. “I saw on barrel horse world that someone needed a dog hauled from Minnesota to
Texas,” says Stewart. Her sister Kasey picked up the dog in
Monticello, from another volunteer from a “puppy train.”
The train derailed about an hour after they got the dog to
Afton, when a friend took Hawkeye outside and slipped from his collar.
He took off north through the fields.
Once word hit the website, the postings grew from two to 14 pages. They got emails from all over the country, complete strangers all begging for help finding one dog. We’re really passionate about trying to find this dog,” says Murphy.
